Strategic planning
We have several years experience of designing and faciliting strategic planning processes for civic organisations and NGOs. Strategic planning methods that we developed became the basis for the Planact strategic planning guide PLAN and ACT.
Developmental Services has run strategic planning sessions for the Urban Sector Network, The Programme for Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS) and the Carehaven Refuge for Battered Women.
Community based development planning
We have experience in facilitating local area development planning and providing support to local institutions.

Lwandle 2000
Work with Sakhumzi Trust and residents in the township of Lwandle to produce a three year development plan.
Participatory planning sessions with local interest groups identified and prioritised different development priorities. These included:

Local economic development research to inform a LED strategy |
 |
A local cutural festival |
Preparation of project documents prepared for fundraising and presentation to the local authority. |
Programme evaluation
As a training provider we are also in a position to evaluate and advise on the development of other training initiatives. Programmes we have evaluated include the Housing Training Programme offered by the Built Environment Support Group (BESG) and the gender training programme developed by the Foundation for Contemporary Research.

An assessment of local government training and support needs for the upgrading of informal settlements in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng commissioned by the Department of Land Affairs. |

An examination of local government's housing responsibilities commissioned by the Western Cape Housing Trust. |
